Volunteering

Volunteers are the heart of our organization. At the Jamestown Community Food Pantry, our enthusiastic and committed volunteers help with all aspects of food pantry operations, provide great customer service, and work with our pantry clients to ensure they have an outstanding experience whenever they visit the pantry. Our volunteers are crucial in promoting a positive and lasting impression of JCFP in the minds of everyone with whom we interact, including clients, donors, volunteers, and the entire community as we work together to fulfill our mission.

We welcome volunteers of all ages to work with us on a wide variety of tasks. Our hours of operation allow flexibility in scheduling to accommodate a wide range of volunteer availability.   

​Our volunteers often contribute by:

• Scheduling and coordinating client visits 
• ​Maintaining the facilities
• Organizing and dating food
• Re-stocking shelves, refrigerators, and freezers
• Assisting clients with their shopping
• Organizing and stocking the hygiene closet
• Keeping our food areas clean and organized
• Sorting and weighing food donations

Volunteers also participate in these key areas:​

• Food sourcing
• Organizational relationships
• Publicity and community awareness
• Office work and record-keeping activities
• Fundraising events​
• Community outreach
